University of Victoria
The University of Victoria is a public research university in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, with campuses in Oak Bay and Saanich. The university’s history may be traced back to Victoria College, which was founded in 1903 as the province of British Columbia’s first post-secondary school. In 1963, it was re-established as a university.
The university’s 403-acre campus is located 7 kilometers north of downtown Victoria. The Jeanne S. Simpson Field Studies Resource Center near Lake Cowichan houses an offsite study center for the University of Victoria. The Sisters of St. Ann donated the six-hectare Queenswood property, which was converted into a national laboratory.
The University of Victoria, on the other hand, is home to Canada’s first and only ancient law degree program, as well as dedicated ancient and environmental law research facilities. Jody Wilson-Raybould, Rona Ambrose, and Russell Brown are just a few of the renowned jurists and politicians that have attended the university.
In addition to academic and research-based rankings, the University of Victoria has been ranked by publications that analyze the job prospects of its graduates. The institution was ranked 176th in the world and eighth in Canada in the Times Higher Education’s global employability rating for 2020.
